O’ Malley builders was established in 1972 by Micheal O’Malley after working in the building industry for more than 10 years previously. The new O’Malley builders firm was based in Ballina working on a wide range of projects over the years; from building new homes, undertaking repairs, home improvements with extension and alterations to houses and being there for emergencies.
The business grew with new commercial and public works across Ballina and Mayo – schools, churches, offices, retail and industrial.
In 1981 O’Malley and Son Ltd (Ballina) was formed as the ever growing expansion of the business, both Micheal sons later joined the business, Michael (Jnr) and Fergal. This allowed the business to increase the range and complexity of work it offered; Micheal, with his qualifications and experience in surveying and project management, and Fergal’s carpentry and site management.
The business had an excellent reputation for quality and hard work, this continued and as a result the business has continued to grow.
Founder of O’Malley builders over 30 years ago has established a business with a broad range of clients and projects, built on a reputation for quality and hard work, and an unique ability to see solutions where others can only see problems. He is respected for his integrity and honesty, working with numerous architects in the mayo area and has managed our contract with Irish rail for the last thirty years.
Micheal joined the business in 1982, previously he had worked at Daniel Moran and Associates, Castlebar for several years, gaining invaluable experience in the quantity surveyors office with many of the skills he learnt still being used today. Since joining the business he has managed most projects from inception to completion, with a reputation for work being completed on time and within budget. He achieved the National Diploma in Construction Economics and is always keen to continue to learn both new building techniques, heritage and construction and also a safe working place with the team having achieved the Safe-T-Cert.
Fergal joined the business in 1992 and is in many ways the face of O’Malley & Sons, his cheerful manner and courteous attitude has allowed us carry out works efficiently and effectively as it is essential for clients to know works are progressing and how problems are being dealt with. This ability to deal with people; clients, tradesmen and contractors on site is ensures we deliver the quality of work required and on time – a really valuable asset to the company has.
Has full responsibility for our Irish Rail contract and has played a key role on many large projects; St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina Golf Club, Bus Eireann and the Thomas Archer Industrial Unit.
He is a fully qualified carpenter and also completed locksmith training which now means we offer a 24 hour locksmith and boarding up service along with our emergency and repair call-outs.
